I am looking for a companion for life / adventures / exploration (physical, scientific, intellectual, political, social,...)
Many of the lovely people (well, women anyway) on this site seem to be Telegraph readers, whereas I got here via New Scientist! I would not make a good partner for a Telegraph reader as I'm actively leftish/ liberal / green, & (learned the hard way) my soulmate will have similar values/outlook. So if I don't 'favourite' you, when you have me, this is probably the reason !
I have a sometimes complicated life to keep me busy, lots of interests, p/t work, supposedly grown-up kids still needing some support, etc, but admit (despite advice of relationship gurus) am unable to feel fully happy & complete without someone to love & be loved by, faults & all. I am optimistic by nature, & am sure that sooner or later will find (or be found by) someone with similar-ish interests & outlook, a long-term partner for activities & mutual support, & cuddling, & keeping sane, & laughs, & above all love, who is central to everything else.
Said activities can be varied, but as well as the usual (TV / film / theatre / cooking together / live music / holidays / cards & games / DIY / messing around / etc etc) might include mountain-walking / hiking / canoeing / skiing (more adventurous versions of these if you like), green politics (ie mainly trying to persuade public /politicians to take global warming seriously & take adequate action), sailing, dancing... . NB not expert in all these, but like to do more - in general I like learning new stuff. Also have strong feeling that should be doing more to help those less fortunate than us eg in dire poverty, so possibly might want to go do VSO or similar at some point but my Dad sometimes need looking after (shared with my sister) ...
PS1 I am very scientific, love trying to understand the world (& contribute to managing it better), despite being somewhat convinced (intellectually) we are all in a simulation a la Bostrum.

It is stating the bleeding obvious but we have to click and fall for each other, which can only be discovered offline, is annoyingly elusive, & completely impervious to logic or conscious decision. Ignoring this minor spanner in the works, as well as the mutual chemistry in an ideal world you will be intelligent, caring, kind, empathic, positive, generous, affectionate, calm, sensible (but not too serious), faithful, ticklish, tactile, honest, low-maintenance, fit, adventurous & sporting & with a sense of humour that complements mine. But ideal worlds don't exist, & such a paragon would make me feel a bit inadequate anyway... Are you active in leftish / liberal/ green politics, & up for occasional camping & hiking trips?
Very important that we empower each other. I tend to see the best in people (even Brexiteers!) & definitely need someone who will see the best in me !
I am very loyal, which means of course to my future partner but also parent kids etc - so I will sometimes need your understanding & support in juggling priorities, & you will certainly have mine.
PS I have oral herpes hsv1 (coldsores since infancy, though none last 8 years) ... so you should have hsv1 too - if you don't, better swipe left 🙁 as can be passed on even when no active sores. NB even if never had symptoms can have hsv1 - there's a blood test.
