About her
Hello,
Talking about yourself is always challenging and I think putting it out there into the Internet ether makes it harder still. So I'll start with some facts:
- I am a teacher, it is a career I fell into and one that I enjoy 95% of time. I currently teach Yr 9 Science, mainly boys, which others think would be insane but I really enjoy it.
- I have joined a Scout group to become a Joey Leader because, having been through Scouts myself ,there are important skills to learnt in these types of organisations that rely on volunteers.
- I am working on getting my Bronze Medallion, which I started for career purposes but now just love getting out into the ocean and improving my confidence and fitness.
- I recently bought my first house and am slowly putting the finishes touches to it.
- I like a challenge and the occasional adrenaline rush
- I am a dog-person but don't currently have any so I make do with mum and dad's.
I have a close family and we get together in some format every few weeks but I also enjoy being independent with time to myself (in the future with someone special). I also have a great group of friends who I see regularly and we try to camp and holiday together several times a year.
I have travelled a lot to the States to visit family and friends, and lived in the UK for two years exploring the sites and history of Europe. I certainly learnt more about history in my travels than I ever learnt at school. I loved NZ and would love to go back to climb glaciers, ski and walk through the magnificent natural environments. And then there is the Great Southern Land that we have the privilege of living in, and the responsibility of looking after.
Education and the environment are incredibly important to me, and I working on living a more sustainable life and also on encourage young people to do the same.
