About her
I love meeting people and have friends of many different ages and social/ethnic backgrounds. I think (hope!) they would probably say that I am friendly, warm, sincere and loyal. At the same time I spend a lot of time on my own; and now that I have more or less retired from my former work, I am anxious to complete several writing projects in the space freed up.
I have really enjoyed my recent work teaching overseas/EU doctors language & communication skills. I have travelled, worked and lived in many overseas countries and speak several languages communicatively. I am also active in supporting social issues such as Amnesty, Fairtrade and initiatives for peace including multi-faith work.
I try to keep active; I have walked the South Downs Way and Monarch's Way in smallish increments (temporarily limited by a hip problem), and swim regularly. Culturally I am keen on the theatre and enjoy many kinds of music (guitar, attending a club; folk; world music; classical and some jazz.). My more unorthodox pursuits include a love of bonfire-making, which I realise is probably not now environmentally acceptable!
I always love to learn new things and am particularly interested in areas of science where my knowledge is very rudimentary as I dropped Physics and Chemistry at an early age. My recent work in Medical English has given me the opportunity to enter another world until recently impenetrable, and of such great interest. To meet someone who could explain scientific issues simply and comprehensibly - also patiently! - would restore my balance even more completely if this is possible.
My life is full but still empty, living on my own now my 'children' have flown the nest, and I would love to meet someone to share the range of interests mentioned and others in a creative, warm and potentially loving relationship.
