About him
Along with being outdoors and camping I love running and music, especially folk and have recently found the joys of the Ceilidh. Early to bed & early to rise and I try to eat healthily but I slip too easily into the sugar and fat trap. I've lost 10kg (from 100kg) since the start of 2012 and am on a mission to get to 80kg by 2013. I'm an emotional, quiet and caring person whose glass is half empty so I'm looking for someone to share life with and draw me out of my shell.
My main pastimes are running, walking, motorcycling, scuba diving, Morris dancing, photography and listening to music. I would like to pursue further Scottish folk dancing at the Haddenham Ceilidhs. Twice a year I help out at two folk / roots music festivals as a volunteer steward in the build-up and get-out crew. Spending a week setting it all up (except marquees, stages and tech equip) and then a couple of days to pack it all away for the following year.
I studded at Huddersfield Polytechnic and Left with a BTEC HND deploma in Industrial Measurement & Control. The course was a little bit too mechanical and I was more electrical so I spent a year working for Farnell before studying Broadcast Engineering at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication. Directly from there I got a job with BBC where I am today, 25 years later.
Although I go out twice a week I'm not a very fast runner. I run for fun, physical & mental health and take part in about 10 x 10km and 10 x 1/2 marathons a year. I try to live and eat healthily but I'm not a very good cook as I don't have to. I'm a vegetarian and although I'm not that keen on fish and dairy I do eat them because it's the easy option.
Some people would call me scruffy because you will always find me in T-shirt, shorts and beach sandals, (except when I'm out walking, on my motorcycle or it's snowing!). I have been known to wear trousers, socks and shoes and to some extent some part of me likes that but my favourite footwear is Vibram FiveFingers Barefoot Sports Shoes. I'm a very casual person.

Being casual, loving the outdoors, walks in the rain together, an interest in running, the environment and a healthy lifestyle. Someone to hold hands with and hug. A vegetarian. Someone to join me on chip timed 10k & half marathons (this is only my 3 year of running so I'm not that fast) and possibly a full marathon in a year or two. Someone to go cycling with (I bought myself a hybrid bike 5 years ago and haven't used it yet). You might even motivate me to go to the Gym.
