Hi, and thanks for reading my profile, and just to mention that all photos were taken in 2023 and 2024.
I'm relaxed, tolerant, uncomplicated, sociable and (for the most part!) easy to be with and with a strong sense of humour - witty and irreverent. Forward looking and with a positive outlook on life. I like challenge and new experiences.
I'm healthy, active, and energetic; I play golf regularly, watch rugby union and walk in the Peak District most weeks. An occasional cyclist and badminton player these days, I also scuba dive in warmer waters. I love the outdoors, but don’t need to be wet and muddy all the time, and enjoy many of the usual interests and activities, National Trust, theatre, live bands, dining out, weekends away etc. Overall, I'd say I'm at ease with myself and where I am.
Naturally, my family is very important for me. I have two grown up children both married with young families and living abroad, but we work hard at dealing with this. I enjoy travelling – new places, new cultures to experience - although I do think the UK also has much to offer and explore.
After a professional, executive career, which included living in Africa and working with an international children’s charity, I now work part time, about 2 or 3 days a month as a non-executive director.
About his ideal match
I genuinely have an open mind. For me, the relationship, has to work on a number of levels; emotional, intellectual and physical. The well-used terms chemistry, connection and spark are all essential, as are honesty, openness and challenge, together with energy, and laughter. Key, however, is the desire to make the relationship work.
I value independence, someone who wants to maintain their own identity within the relationship, and who would challenge me and us. Shared interests are important but not to the extent of being inseparable - there needs to be space to do your own thing with your own friends. Actually, it’s also great to be happy together doing absolutely nothing; just sharing a bottle of wine.
