About her
I'm curious and always interested in learning something new. I like to meet life head-on; sometimes the dial goes up to 11. Call me a gregarious introvert. My interests, background, and personality are equally split between science and the arts, reason and emotion. I have two DECS (diplôme d'études collégiales), one in Creative Arts and one in Pure & Applied Sciences. I have a BA with first-class honours in English literature, most electives in maths and sciences. I make my living as a writer and editor of nonfiction, specializing in (1) architecture/design/decor magazines (2) continuing education materials for healthcare professionals. I'm animated, transparent (My face reflects my feelings; what you see is what you get.), and have a ready smile. I'm a casually stylish dresser. I sing (tenor!) in an a cappella octet; love concerts (attending or performing); read voraciously; follow some dramas on HBO/Showtime; enjoy the outdoors (walking, camping, riding horses, canoeing). Musical tastes: Renaissance, Baroque, some classical and modern, Americana, alt-country, folk, some pop and rock, a little blues. Travel: I have a slight preference for seeing the works of Nature over the works of Man, but I'd never turn down a trip to the British Museum or the Musée d'Orsay. I'm a long-time subscriber to The New Yorker. I prefer literary fiction (but binged on Lee Child's Jack Reacher series). Non-fiction is always present in my life. I'm creative, handy, resourceful (I sew! I own a power drill!); enjoy discussing pretty much anything and everything, learning new things. If I had a family crest, the motto would be "I need to know" or "I want to learn."
About her ideal match
My ideal man is intelligent and kind; all else flows from that. He provides companionship but not neediness, just like me. (NB: I am NOT looking for someone to "complete" me; I like myself the way I am.) He's curious about the universe and our tiny part in it, and everything in between. He doesn't accept 42 as the answer to absolutely everything. He knows that communication between friends and lovers is important, but being in each other's presence 24/7 is not obligatory. He likes deep philosophical discussions but is not averse to humor and occasional whimsy and silliness. It would be nice if he likes the same kinds of music, but that's not an absolute criterion; however, he doesn't expect me to spend lots of time in jazz clubs. He's not a fitness fanatic, but he is healthy enough to go exploring outdoors and in.
