About her
I love making discoveries and trying new things. However, I've reached a point in my life where my external world is not changing on an almost constant basis, so I'm trying to fight the apathy that comes with that, and realising that those experiences take a lot of effort when they're not laid out for you.
I'm an atheist and a sceptic, but not a cynic. I think of myself as being open-minded and easy-going, but those are not really things for me to judge. I'm a vegan, although far from unhypocritical in my principles, not least in that I feed my cat meat, so I'm certainly not the judgemental type. I'm artsy in appreciation (Eng lit graduate), but consider myself to have an analytical, rather than creative, disposition; this is one of the things that most disappoints me about myself, but I know I shouldn't let it.
I love television; I can't stand most X-factoresque/reality TV stuff, but I love good drama, comedy, documentary (The Wire/Green Wing/Frozen Planet... you get the idea). Television+friends+food+drink is one of my favourite combinations of things. I don't read nearly as many books or watch nearly as many films as I would like, but I manage a reasonable number of visits to the theatre and comedy shows ('reasonable' being relative, I suppose). I'm an orchestral violist (extracurricularly, not by profession) and love classical and jazz music.
I don't get on well with most formal exercise - occasional yoga and horseriding, and, more recently regular lindyhop classes, are my limit - but I love nature and enjoy long country walks, climbing mountains etc. I'd love to meet someone who would encourage me to be outdoors more. My most profound feelings of wellbeing come from those 'getting back to nature' moments - but I often need a little motivating to get out there.
I used to overuse exclamation marks and ellipses, so stopped... but now worry that I sound underwhelmed by everything!

I'm by no means looking for someone who necessarily shares all my views and interests. That said, if we can't watch TV or go to the theatre/comedy gigs together, I might struggle with that.
I'd like to find someone with whom I can have an intelligent discussion, but equally easily talk about trivialities or just sit quietly. Discussion topics of preference include morality, aesthetics and religion; I'm not too hot on politics (though my engagement has increased in the past few years, for obvious reasons), but this is a source of guilt for me, so I'm very happy to be educated! Similarly, I have massive science geek envy and love people who can talk passionately about science. Or people who are passionate about anything really.
